2022 WATA Battle of the Racquets

What is World TeamTennis?

It is a men's, or women's or mixed doubles tennis tournament and social event!

Match format: Waterfall: Saturday matches teams play two 8 game pro sets, Sunday matches teams play two best 2 out of three sets with the third set a 9 point tiebreaker with no-ad scoring Monday is the Semifinals and Finals matches.

A Team consists of either men's doubles or women's doubles or mixed doubles.

Your team can only play in one division.

Teams MUST enter with their own tennis partner.

Suggested teams can be as follows:

When do leagues start?
The tennis tournament is play on Saturday, Sunday and Monday
July 2,3 and 4

Time: 8:00am to 6:00pm

Number of matches: Minimum four matches...maybe up to 7 matches if you play on Sunday.
Sign-Up Deadline: 06/17/2022 or ASAP
All money and registration are due by this date. No refunds will be made after 6/17/22

What Divisions (levels of play) are offered?
The levels offered are 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, 9.0 and 10.0 (for example, in the 6.0 division you can have a 3.0/3.0 team or 3.5/2.5 team)
We offer the following divisions:




Senior (age 50 and up)

Supersenior (age 60 and up)
Determining Team Rating
The average NTRP rating of the top two men and top two women players on your team determines the team rating.
  Joe- 4.5 Mary- 3.5
  Tom- 4.5 Jill-3.5
  Bill- 4.0 Gail- 3.5
  Joe- 4.5 Mary- 3.5
  Jim- 3.5 Joan- 3.0
The best two men and two women are: 4.5 + 4.5 + 3.5 + 3.5 = 16. 16 divided by 4 equals 4.0.
This team could register for the 4.0 division or a higher division. A team consists of a minimum of two men and two women. Although the limit to the number of team members is ten, the suggested number of players is three men and three women. Click here to determine your NTRP level.

Matches will be played at the following locations:

Can I register as an individual/substitute/team?
Individual players are allowed. You will be assigned by the Tournament Director

Why register via the Internet?
You are not an official league participant until you have registered online. When you register via the Internet site you will be e-mailed league information during the season and your WTT Member Benefits (WTT Point of Contact Newsletter, discounts on hotel, rental cars, 2 for 1 tickets, plus more).
What is the cost?
Team Fee: $360 by check/zelle or via paypal $375 which includes the paypal fee.

Players receive: Fee includes Battle of the Racquets giveaway, player party at a local restaurant on Saturday night, box lunch on Sunday. Awards for winning teams.

Optional events: In addition, we have packages for you to stay in a hotel in MD plus optional excursions to local DC event on Sunday night.

Tennis clinic($35 per person) on Friday night

*Attending the tennis clinic or not registration

*Attending the player party
*Choosing your box lunch selection
*Need a hotel room and attending the Saturday night event
League winners qualify for a National Qualifier?
Winning teams advance to the WTT National Qualifiers. Your team is eligible to participate in a NQ for up to one year from the end date of your league. For every four (4) teams in any official World TeamTennis (WTT) local league division, one (1) team will be eligible to participate in a NQ. Click here for more details.
Local League Information & Rules:
This is NOT a USTA nor WTT event! There is NO National Qualifier this year. Yet TBD

Note: All levels of play can enter and teams can mixed their levels. For example, a 2.5 level can play with a 4.5 level player. A 3.0 player can play with a 5.0 player.

Note: you can only enter in only one division.
